Diary of A Wimpy Kid Book Review

Jacob Pope, Staff Reporter

Hey, let me introduce myself to you guys!  I am Jacob Pope and I’m a very good reader. I’m also the Howler’s general book review person. I will review any book you ask me too, except harry potter. Sorry guys, but any other book.

Book Review One:  Diary of a Wimpy Kid:  Rodrick Rules

The book starts off with Rodrick waking up Greg in his bed and Rodrick says he has been late for school. Then Greg ran down the stairs and started eating cheerios at the breakfast table.  Then his dad came and ask “WHY ARE YOU EATING CHEERIOS AT 3:00 IN THE MORNING?” It was at that moment that Greg realized Rodrick tricked him. When they got to Rodrick’s room he is asleep. Greg’s dad thought he was crazy. That’s a little summary of part of the beginning. But what do I think of the book? Oh well, I will tell you! I think it’s great because of the way the author draws the pictures. He draws them in style. What I mean by style is not too animated and something the kids will like, but not too undetailed like some books have the pictures with so little detail you cant tell whats going on in the picture but not to animated like Raina Telgemeier’s books I think her books are great as well, but Jeff Kenny books are just as good. The author had the right idea when he created the character Greg Heffley and his family. Greg says in book 7 that asparagus is like kryptonite to him, so that means that’s like his weakness.

My thoughts on the character of Greg is that he is cool, but he isn’t that loveable.  Occasionally he makes the right life choices, but it’s his poor choices that make the books so interesting!

A question I want to throw at you is why does Rodrick hate Greg and why does Greg hate Fregly? Feel free to add your thoughts in the comments!

Well, that’s all folks.  Keep reading and I will keep writing about reading!
